Batang Pier, Tropang Texters: Prepare for a shoot-out galore
The Mall of Asia Arena better prepare extra generators for Tuesday, as two teams look to shoot the lights-out.
GlobalPort (1-2) fishes for its second win against the defending champions Talk n' Text (2-1) in this Tuesday edition of the 2013 PBA PLDT-MyDSL PBA Philippine Cup.
With GlobalPort finding a new Gary David in rookie Terrence Romeo, GlobalPort is really a formidable team especially from the three-point line. With Romeo, fellow rookie RR Garcia, holdovers Jay Washington, Sol Mercado, Jaypee Belencion, and Leo Najorda, GlobalPort, if they get in the zone, is a ring-torcher team. Romeo himself is leading the league in terms of scoring, averaging about 25 points in three games.
Talk n' Text, meanwhile, will continue to rely on their backcourt duo of Jimmy Alapag and Jayson Castro. The pair combined for 53 points on their last game against Alaska, with Alapag hitting crucial threes on the extra five minutes. And with the addition of "Dynamite" Danny Seigle and the return of Ranidel de Ocampo, they might not be easily toppled by the young Batang Pier squad.
After the shoot-out against Mark Caguioa, people are expecting Romeo to pick up the cudgels of "El Granada", who left the squad in a trade with Meralco that sent David and AJ Mandani for Chris Ross, eventually traded to Petron via Barako Bull, for, curiously, Terrence Romeo, and Chris Timberlake.
